I am new here and hope this is the correct place for this .
Some time in the late 80,s I got this peculiar 2 $ note in change .
First serial number in BUF 8585352 and one in black BUF 8585352 ?

Error note or.... what ?

Interesting ... so not intentional ?

Put aside in the later 80;s with other X notes which many years later I finally dug out again .
How often did something like this happen - and how ? This would mean that the serial number printers had separate ink feeds .
One would think they would have caught all of them and added replacement notes for the removed ones .

Have any others shown up as this one or opposite configuration ??

I love error bills and have never seen this before.
very cool bill.
Why not contact the printer on this one.

Can one still do that ?
Being so long ago would anyone be around - still working or even remember ?
Being new to Canadian Bills - I ask ... would these"'mishaps" - if it was one - have been that pain stakenly recorded .
Reading through may threads here . .. I got the impression - the printers will not admit to any thing unless there is
overwhelming evidence . One known bill like this is hardly enough to break the door down and make them confess ?

Have a look at this thread. The OP claims that bleach turned his right side serial number green.

Thanks Seth :
I will have a talk with them and do the UV tests .
After all this bill may have been 'laundered' . :)

Well guys ... the mystery thickens .
As referred to in the other thread it seams that the 100 $ note ( Journey series ??) absorbed some bleach
turning the right side serial number green .
The sample shown is of a different series and the bird series does not react that way .
I UV tested most of my Bird series bills - various prefixes and non react to UV light - not the printing ink and non of the serial numbers .
This BUF bill revealed a big surprize .

Only the paper core under all ink reacts to the UV light !!
Lets compare both for 'plate size' ... The scale is different and the bottom grass far edges differ with lower bill which has a larger "2" .
Do we have different printing companies for these notes ?

What comes to mind - testing different paper ?http://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/5862/4JUBeL.jpg

Paper that glows under UV light is a strong indicator of a counterfeit note...unless something else strange is going on.
The planchettes should be the only thing that glows on a Birds series note. Can the planchettes be picked out of the paper?

Yes the planchettes can be picked out . Some on The front - Queens head and on the reverse breast of
first robin has one missing .
I have a Jewelers 30 and 60 x times loop . The round disks are gone on those spots and at that magnification the
remaining paper indentation can be seen .
The green planchette under the second black prefix B is raised and could be removed .
The front has about 17 planchettes - sort of light green which are much harder see - more wear on the front .
The reverse has about 17 light of these light green planchettes .
Also close comparison with other bills it seams that the ARG bill is the only one - I Have - with more grass spread out
on the reverse past the large 2 .
