I noticed the new $10 bill has been in circulation for two days now, and as of today, no reports of anyone getting their hands on the new $10s.
The only reports of new $10s being ordered are from users in Ontario. I wonder if there are not very many banks across the nation ordering $10 bills anymore?
As I mentioned before, I saw no new $10s in my province, NL, since July or August 2014. FOUR YEARS. Every time I see a $10 bill in my change, it's something old, nothing new.
The commemorative $10s issued in June last year technically do not count, as they were intended to be keepsakes.
I did visit Sobeys for some time now, and even they are not getting new $10s during that time, and I was told by a representative in July 2017 that they did order $10s from the bank, but they got short-shipped (implying the bank no longer has many, no longer orders them, and may be phasing them out of my province).
Time will tell. If I don't get any of the new $10s in my change by April 2019, then sadly, the $10 bill has reached the end of the line in my province, in terms of orders.
