Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and just getting back into collection banknotes. Not only Canadian.

I have some notes that I want to frame myself and I want to be sure I don't ruin them. So I'm hoping to get some pointers.
My plan is the following:
- use acid-free and lignin-free matboard
- place the notes in mylar sleeves (This is actually what led me here - I'd love some advice on brands and a good Canadian source)
- I plan on hanging the frame in the basement next to my desk. I've read that basements/attics are the worst places to store notes, but mine is dry and a constant temperature

With regard to using DuPont mylar/melinex  (or similar) sleeves: would it be safe to use a non-acid-free mat? i.e. would the sleeve protect the notes against any acidity from the board?

The frames would not be exposed to sunlight

Any other tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums!

Photo corners might work well to hold them in place if you are able to find sleeves without the rounded edges at the top.  I don't think they are too hard to find and should stick nicely to the background.
