Will inflation kill the CDN nickel?

Of course Pittis raises a lot of controversial questions (like $5 coin) & I always wonder whenever I read how Canadians use less cash, why there's never any mention of the BETTER THAN CASH ALLIANCE who distributed anti-cash posters during COVID.

It is not that easy to get rid of the 5c coin in the Canadian coinage system because of the quarter. If you abolish the 5c coin you either
--also need to get rid of the quarter and replace it with a 20c coin or, in my eyes the better option, re-introduce the 50c coin into circulation (rounding prices to 10c)
or
--you not only get rid of the 5c coin but also get rid of the 10c coin and thus making the quarter the lowest coin denomination (rounding to 25c)

You will have problems paying in cash certain amounts without one of these two options when you only have the 10c and 25c coins.


Yes, sadly, the Covid crisis has been a great opportunity for the anti-cash lobby and they used it.
