January 2nd 1929 Bank of Nova Scotia $10 Moore-McLeod. Charlton 18-20a VF. Catalogue price $500
Four digit radar 1835381
Good colour, corners not rounded, few tiny edge nicks in margins only. These do not diminish the overall appearance of the note. No pin holes.
This note would have been issued just before the Great Depression began in October 1929. The depression would have reduced the amount of notes issued.
In addition the opening of the Bank of Canada in 1935 required the gradual withdrawal of chartered notes. This process culminated in 1950 when the Bank of Canada ordered the withdrawal of the remaining outstanding chartered notes.
