Forum members may have noticed the $20 "Gold Note" that appeared as Lot 1250 in The Canadian Numismatic Company's
Prominence XI auction last night (Nov. 24) that sold for $1,450 plus 19.5% buyer's commission. These 24 Karat gold notes were presented to certain delegates who attended the
7th Guardian Banknote Symposium held in Ottawa in December 2012. They were sealed between two rigid acrylic slabs but could be removed easily for inspection. I purchased one of these gold notes from a symposium delegate around six years ago. As I recall, the note weighed between 3 and 4 grams. It's relevant to note that
"Guardian" is the trademark name of the polymer substrate employed by many countries (including Canada) for their banknotes.

https://www.cclsecure.com/guardianI sold my gold note to a dealer at the RCNA Convention held in Boucherville, Quebec, in July of this year. In all likelihood, but not necessarily, this was the same note that appeared in the above-mentioned auction. I say "not necessarily" because I saw a second (identical) example in a local jewelry store earlier this year. I expressed interest in purchasing this second example but was told that it was on display only and was not for sale. In fact, the store manager expressed interest in purchasing my example!
I was wondering if forum members have any additional information regarding these interesting gold notes, in particular how many might have been produced?
