I will gladly forfeit the penny if Congress focuses on some 'more important' things. LOL  (Sorry Dean!!) First Trump State of the Union Address tonight at 9 p.m. streaming for free on Youtube PBS channel.

I heard it on the news that Trump has directed the US Treasury to stop minting the penny. Considering a penny cost 3.8 cents to make. I’ll understand why they are discontinuing it and not a lot of people are spending the penny. If I lived in the US I’ll probably use the penny in my everyday transactions.

I wonder if the penny were to be phased out by the US government. Will they be hoarded like crazy just like in Canada?
