Hi,

I have been adding my notes, but I do not think that they have been counted as sequential e.g. If I enter the following:

INZ 1897073 48 48
INZ 1897099 48 48

Would this be counted as 26 sequential notes?

If not, how do I enter them?  I am talking about a LOT to be entered ::)

For each range like that, only enter the first and the last note. There is no value in recording each note in the range.

That is what I have been doing, but it appears that only the notes entered have been counted, and not as sequential total i.e.  2 notes counted and not 26.

A while back, someone suggested that the count be added when adding sequential notes into the SNDB. For now people say to enter the first starting point of the sequential and the last but for me I just enter the entire sequential into the SNDB. Some people do it and it provides great value where the sequential note (serial number).

Example:
FFN 6674141
to
FFN 6674155

were found in Toronto, ON

but it's your choice if you want to add the entire sequential note but AZ suggested that you don't as it provides no value but in my opinion it provides value.

As far as keeping track on issued serial number ranges, there is no value in doing this whatsoever. It is easy to enter all notes from the range and the count of your notes in the database can grow much faster, but it is essentially cheating.

And yes, when you enter first and last note from a range, only 2 notes are added to the database and the total count of your notes increases by 2, as expected.

I am not sure what you mean by "essentially cheating".  I thought that the idea of the data base was to have a reference work.  I am almost 81 years old, and I have neither the time or patience, to be entering 900+ notes per week. :(
