Counterfeit birds $100?

Today, I deposited several birds banknotes into the ATM.
All but one were accepted.

The machine rejected one birds $100, prefix AJS that I picked out of the mutilated pile at the bank a few days ago.

I tried to deposit it in ATMs from other banks and none of them accepted it.

Is this a sign of a counterfeit?

The note has raised intaglio, the OSD looks good, it changes colour when tilted…

I think, personally, today's ATMs cannot read any banknotes that are not Polymer. Maybe the ATMs do not accept non-Polymer bills, perhaps?

The Birds $100s are considered very outdated, and the ATMs probably don't read any banknotes from any pre-Polymer series.

My best advice: You could try to deposit the Birds $100 through a human teller over the counter.

Thanks, but bank machines do accept birds notes without any problems…except for this one particular bill.
I’ve deposited several birds notes in the ATMs of all of the major banks if I don’t keep them.
