Error $50 OSD

Recently picked up this OSD Error on a 1988 $50

Hmmm,

At first I thought it looked like there was a regular optical security device already placed on the banknote and then somehow a negative version of one was placed over it and even misplaced.
 
but
 
Now it kind of looks to me like whatever put the negative gold “50” on the banknote removed part of the original OSD.

Maybe the whole thing the way it is was placed on the banknote in one go.

Thanks Hunter, I've also never seen one quite like this. It's interesting indeed, the "50" in the OSD is definitely misplaced. I'm guessing thats what removed part of the OSD.

I thought it would be good to add an image of a normal OSD little white “50”.
