Weyburn $20

I had the privilege to handle this beauty from the Bob Graham collection recently.  Last seen in a Charles Moore auction in 2014, this note hits the trifecta of collectability:

• One of the most collectable banks, seeing as there were very few note-issuing banks in Saskatchewan at the time.
• Scarcest and most desirable denomination with a unique design and vibrant colours.
• Highest grade available by a wide margin for this issue, and likely highest grade available of any issue by this bank.

The back is very much like the backs from their popular Gold Certificates (1863-1934) though the orange ink is a bit brighter. I'm sure this note, if it were put in an auction, would get lots of attention.

I have never seen a Canadian banknote with such a bright orange back. Just looking through the BNM, all I can find is this DOC P-37 $1000 Queen Marie specimen (1925):

so the Weyburn would be a "bargain" in comparison to trying to own a 1925 DOC $1000 (which I'm not even sure were issued).

I was just lurking on Reddit & I found these 2 comments about an obsolete Chartered bank (graded Remainder) printed by ABNC. The title was "Mexico doesn't make banknotes like this anymore"

It's a little hard to compare colours from various places online.   Here are photos taken with the same camera.  Even so, the presence of the different holders and the ageing of my flash between 2019 and 2025 make it hard to compare exactly.  Not to mention that the inks themselves fade over the years and all of these notes are 100+ years old at this point.
