I know this is not a paper money topic but I am looking for advice.

I have inherited a large amount of 10 DM German Silver coins and 10 Euro German Silver Coins.

I have contacted a few stores in Edmonton about selling and almost all of them are only offering  40% less of the spot Silver price. Is this the normal buying price?

I do plan of keeping a few and giving the grandkids a few but will have a lot left over that I would like to get rid of.

 Any thoughts?

Not my expertise but 35%?  That's ridiculous.  I have no trouble getting full spot for bullion from my bullion guy.  Not sure about junk silver but surely you should be getting a lot better than that.  I did hear a while back that refiners were backed up and not taking any more silver so that might be why.  I'm sure there are silver stackers who would gladly take them though.

try Gold and Silver section here, or gatewest coin  they pay ASW for world coins, you should get at least 80% to 85% of the value they are the best, 40% you know where not to buy in future...

Thank you For me 15%-23% I can live with but when Silver is around $4 a gram and I get offered around $2.25 a gram that's a problem for me and I just tell the person  "Thank you for your interest but I hold on to the coins"

Is that 35% of spot price or is that 35% of the weight.  Some coins only contain 35-40% silver.

There is a travelling road show that buys gold, silver and jewelry.  I can't remember their name but they give 80% spot.

Hold off for a better offer.  The 10 DM coins are .625 silver and just under 10 grams .969 ASW while the Euro coins are sterling silver and .5353 troy ounces.  Sadly too much of these collector coins are ending up in the melting pot with less and less surviving for future generations to enjoy.  Some really nice historical pieces including the ones with the polymer rings that do not deserve this treatment.

My advice?  Familiarize yourself with the silver bullion calculator (coinapps.com) but do understand there are many factors impacting buy prices and a high risk game for dealers.  That said 40% below spot seems too harsh and perhaps their way of brushing you off since they likely won't be able to move it quickly enough and refineries are massively backlogged from what people are saying.
