$4 note on Murdoch Mysteries

In Season 10 , episode 19  Detective Murdoch gives a $4 bill for Christmas to a kid.  You only get a glimpse of the note on the TV … but wondering which note is it?

Wow, I wish someone would give me a $4 bill for Christmas.  When is the show set?  Would a 1900/1902 series make sense?

As far as I know, the series begins in 1890 and then moves slowly to the early 1900s (after all, 19 seasons have been telecast thus far).
Would a $4 note make sense around 1900? Hm, I don't know...
