Hi all. I have recently acquired several radar notes, and I was wondering if I could get a ballpark figure as to their value. They are as follows:

$2 1974 RADAR note BC-47-A-i serial #ABJ8865688

$2 1974 RADAR BC-47-a-i serial #ABE5466645 . Both these notes are UNC, with the Lawson-Bouey signature combination.

$20 RADAR note BC-58a EIB7466647 , signed Thiessen-Crow. This note is crisp UNC. I was wondering if what I paid for them was a good price or not.

As well, I have the option of purchasing a $20 Journey note radar, serial number AZJ5539355. What would a fair price for this note be in EF/AU, as the seller wishes me to make an offer on it?

Thanks for your time and your help.

Sincerely,

Fenian

A multiple question.

The $2 '74 notes are fairly common and would have a catalogue value of $15 ea (if UNC).

The $20 EIB has a catalogue value of $65 plus a Radar premium of $15 for a total of $80 (if UNC).

The Journey $20 question regarding ef/au quality is simple. All Unc Journey $20 notes are in bad shape to begin with. An EF means a lot worse. Radar or not it's not worth more than $20 unless you can establish the prefix as rare.

None of these notes are remarkable and it would be difficult to expect full catalogue value upon quick resale.

May I also suggest an investment of $20 in a Charlton Standard Catalogue, Canadian Government Paper Money, 18th Edition, 2006.
It may save you from overbidding on ebay again.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't really overbid on Ebay however. The two 1974 Unc $2 notes I got for $3 each, along with the Unc EIB $20 note for $25 from a bank teller at a local flea market :) She brings different "neat stuff" each week that she has saved up over 20 years... I have not bought the $20 Journey note yet and likely will not now, unless it is for face plus a little bit, $25 would be worth it for me since I am trying to get a radar of each bill, $1 to $100 from 1967 onwards, and this would fill a slot, at least for now...

Thanks again,

Fenian

Good collecting on your part.

Check out the "Trading Post" section of this site if you want to find notes at reasonable prices.
