I just bought this 1974 $2 replacement note for $8.  The condition is listed as VF.  I've just started collecting paper money, so I'm wondering if this was a good deal.  There seems to an error with the cutting of this bill (its off centre).  I thought it was ironic that this defective bill was created to replace another defective bill!

What do you all think this bill is worth?  It's serial number is *RE7037261 and is signed Lawson-Bouey.

Thanks!

*RE is worth $10 under FV so you saved yourself 2 whole dollars. :) I don't think it would be worth more because of the cutting of the note.

Heavily circulated notes from that issue can easily be bought under book value

You will probably find that there are many regular and replacements particularly within the 1974 $2 series that had similar printing errors. These are common and therefore don't fetch much if any premium at all. I have a *BM in VF with a similar error, i didn't pay much for it, maybe $5.

Well I think we could agree that you both got great prices on them. You see more misscut 74 $2's.you dont see many * error notes on anything.

Thanks for all the input everyone!  It's the first note of its kind in my collection and I'm happy to hear that I paid a fair price.
