2002 or 2005 $5

I got a crispy Jenkins Dodge.  It says 'printed in 2005' on the back and printed on the front    
'issued of 2002'.   Is this a journey bill?  serial# HOT3342786
What should I look for to find GOOD journey's?

Yes, Journey series bills are dated "Issue of 2001" (or newer) at the bottom right corner of the face (not back) of the bill.  The "Issue of" date is what is used to determine the series of the bill.  The "Printed in" date debuted on the Journey series bills, and gives collectors a whole new area to specialize in; especially when the "printed in" date changes in the middle of a prefix causing a short run variety.

Get a copy of the latest Charlton's for some in-depth info on serial number ranges and current values.

Any of the notes which are changeovers, short runs or inserts. Other notes to consider are radar notes. Where the serial number is read the same way from left to right as it is from right to left. For instance, 1234321, 7849487, 9923299 etc.

Many collectors collect different things too, so what one person keeps is not the same as the next.

So where ever your interest primarily is, that is what you might specialize in.  

If a person was to try collecting EVERYTHING of value you would run out of money in the blink of an eye!
