Some auction companies will give ouit auction catalogues worth plenty just to get your business. Heritage Auctions of Dallas will send you thick glossy books with colour images throughout that must cost huge amounts to produce. They are great reference material (i.e. The Halton Lake collection from last September's Long Beach show)..

As I understand it, the nice glossy catalogs are made that way not for the potential buyer but for the consignors to be pleased with the great marketing effort so they consign again. Heck, buyers will buy even without pics and sight unseen.  It is the consignors that like the nice showcasing of their prize collection.

I just went to the heritage site but you have to purchase catalogues and they are not given out for free unless you have a promo code?
Any suggestions?

If you bid with them or any auction company for that matter you will end up getting their catalogs mailed for free at least for a year or so for most auctioneers.
