Everyone is familiar with the text on the back of the Journey notes…
IMPRIME EN 2006/PRINTED ON 2006

And who can forget…
@ 2006 BANK OF CANADA @ 2006 BANQUE DU CANADA
(Where @ is actually the copy write symbol)

This text is usually found at the back and bottom of the note. However, the ones I found have the text on the top. I don’t think this is a new variety but an out of register cutting. Next question is, is it a flaw that would warrant the Printer replacing this or is it common enough to ignore? And... any premium on this error?

It's a uncommon error note in the Journey's serie.  Have you chekced if the front of the note have the same out of register cutting?  If so, the words "ÉMISSION DE 2006/ISSUE OF 2006" would also appear at the top the the note.

Incidentally, I already reported an out-of-register cutting which was only partial on the face of the note. See scan

That ÉMISSION DE 2006/ISSUE OF 2006 text is still intact but just about two hairs from the bottom edge. The intagio "BANK OF CANDA . BANQUE DU CANADA" appears quite off center on the left. Some notes have the back text split between the top and the bottom.

It looks like a combination of two minor errors:  a slight shift of the intaglio print combined with a slight shift of the cut: when both errors adds up, we get something much more interesting...

Good eye PD.  Was it easy to notice?  Did it strike you right away?

I held the bundle with my left hand and thumbed each note across to my right hand. So I was just observing the serial numbers first then noticed how unusually narrow the panel on the bottom edge was on the narrow side and then noticed that the text were on the wrong side of the note. I would then regularly check the front portrait. Finally in flip-book fashion check the Counters and security strip.
Other bundles appear normal except for number four (400 to 499). Almost the top half of the bundle seemed to be affected. The top 20pcs have the text on top then varying down to the text appearing cut off at both the top and the bottom. None of the other bundles appear effected. The sister brick next to it did not show any problems (Bundle four) so I would think after the ream was cut in columns the problem occurred in the handling they were cut into separate bricks.

I have now 5 scans of one note here. Click the above blue > triangle(s) to navigate for various views.
