The changeover info in charlton is correct, i don't doubt that. But what i am wondering is if they were really issued for circulation and circulated (if any) in part or full?

I think they were all issued.  The Canadian Prefix Newsletter, Vol. 8, No. 1, page 16, (Jan. 1982) records both BABN and CBN R/C $5s.  This could only have been done by actual observation of circulation notes  as the first Government Paper Money catalogue was not released until 1984.

Collecting Canadian since 1955

Would you really be happier with just knowing they exist?

I mean,

Wouldn’t it take all the mystery away from the BABN R/C and if they did exist any excitement you’d enjoy discovering you found one at long last?

Is it just a harmless prefix-kix or do I live for that next prefix-fix?

I can confirm that they do exist.  I have both R/C 0087760 (babn) and R/C 0088128 (cbn) which agrees with the published changeover point of 0.088M.

Nice set! How did you get hold of your R/C babn note?? Been looking for over 20 years, never found or even seen one. Are you able to post a pic of your note?

Ahhh... so I did post the pictures already but I can't find them any more.  I'll have to take new pictures and upload them.  The babn $5 was bought from a dealer at Nuphilex years ago.

Why bother!

I for one would love to have images of those notes.  Please upload when you have a chance.
