I am too! Born and raised in Port Moody and now reside in Kelowna, been collecting off and on for a while. Started with coins, but have done more with currency lately.

Hi I'm Dave,
I think mine location is self explanatory (1 hour East of Vancouver), I've been collecting Canadian coin and Currency for about 10 yrs.

It's nice to know some other Crazy Canuck Coin & Currency Affectionados made it over the Rockies.

I am from Pitt Meadows just outside Vancouver to the east.

Unless you're a recent Newbie, most by now should familiar that I am in New Westminster, a small city/town 16 km east of downtown Vancouver and I am not from Jamaica as rumored to be.

I resumed banknote collecting in mid 2006 after about a 10 year break, I was kind of...busy.

Hello Derrick

Ever go to that coin and stamp shop around the Skytrain station in New West? For get the name. Doh.

I bought an Army dagger off him last fall but have not been back since.

I only get time to go out there on Saturdays and it is a pain to get away from the family.

You mean Crawford coin & Stamps. Yes, I've been there but never really bought anything. I just browsed. I go more often to Sears Coin & Stamp in Metrotown and chat with Jim, and J&M on Broadway where I get my supplies.

Say Steiner, are you planning a local get together of Forum Members?

Yes was thinking about getting together but it looks like it is just you and I here in the lower mainland.

Summer is very busy for me with my family but I maybe we could work out a get together sometime in September.

I live near Granville Island.  I consider myself a collector without a collection.  My wife and I both work part time and have two young kids, leaving little resources for expansion of a paper money collection.  My collection consists mostly of circulated notes that are not worth much more than face value!

Everyone has to start some where. I bet you look at every S/N on notes that pass through your hands. Your collection may not be worth much now but when those little kids of yours gets older they will be happy you put away what you did. Just enjoy the hobby and have fun.

Collecting is not a contest it a form of recreation.

Anybody know of any stores, meetings, or paper money action of any kind in Kamloops? I'm not from there, but I visit my best friend and her kid a couple times a year. I'll be there next week kind of checking it out as a possible place to move to.

Hmmm, I must have missed this thread...

I live near Granville Island in Vancouver.  Work part time, have young kids, and have very little money to spend on any hobbies right now.  The only notes that my wife will let me buy are ones that can be liquidated (i.e. spent) quickly if we need the money.  So that means right now I collect circulated notes that can be acquired for face value.  Several members here have been helpful in getting me old multicoloured notes for face value.  Thanks guys.   :)
