How Should I store my notes. (They are in a binder).

1. Should I lay the binder flat?

I don't keep notes in a binder, but if I would, I would keep them upright.
Only my opinion. I'm sure that everyone has their own system that works for them. A lot depends on quantity of notes and availabality of storage space,

Well, I only have about 45 or 50 notes. Right now they are laying flat

If your placing notes in a binder I would recommend standing the binder on its side to avoid the weight of the plastic sheets to have a pressing effect on the notes.

I have mine in a binder also. I have about 80 notes. I also store them upright.

Mine are stored in individual Mylar sleeves and then stored upright in cardboard boxes in my safety deposit box. I used binders for a few months but my collection grew beyond the capacity of a couple binders, so I abandoned them in favour of some much more space-efficient storage methods.

How do you know if you don't have "Mylar Sleeves".

If yours are the ones with the rounded edges, then I know those are mylar holders. Typically, non-mylar holders will be advertised as PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or vinyl. There is also the Beilstein test, which I believe involves taking a sample of the holder and lighting it with a blowtorch, though I don't know the specifics.

Actually, quite the opposite. Most Mylar sleeves have square edges and three sealed sides. The much more common and cheaper holders, some of which contain PVCs and some of which do not, tend to have rounded top corners. The bottom edge is also bent (ie: it's made from one piece of plastic that is folded in the middle to form the bottom edge) rather than sealed, and the side edges are sealed in a "serrated" fashion (think of rolling a silver dollar down the edge to get that bumpy pattern) rather than a single, steady seal.

Great. That means that I now have NO mylar holders. I hope that someone is planning on selling some soon. Back on topic, I keep my 150-170 notes in individual plastic holders in a plastic CD box with some silica gel packets.
