Hello fellow collectors,

I was in Ottawa last week to attend the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint where there was a special open house.   During my few days in the city, I dropped by the Bank of Canada Currency Museum.   I used my camera's video mode to tape a mini-tour of the museum.   So, for those who haven't had the opportunity to visit yet, my YouTube videos will give a glimpse as to what the museum looks like and what to expect. 

There are four segments in the video via YouTube.   To watch it, click on the links below.   For those who have hi-speed internet, you can click on "watch in high quality" below the timer and sound.  The video will be clearer.    I don't think it's necessary to increase the video to the full size screen of your monitor.   I would just watch it via the standard size screen.   I don't provide any commentary on the videos.  Just watch and enjoy.   I apologize for my amateurish videographer abilities.    Having this on Youtube is a first as there are no other YouTube videos of the Bank of Canada Currency Museum.

I'm about half-way through the first video and it looks great so far. Thanks for putting these up, coinsplus! I'm sure they will be of great interest to those members who are unable to visit the Museum in person.

Got to love all those low number notes and the scarce Dominion of Canada notes.

When I went to the Currency Museum I tried to take pictures of some of the notes, but they looked terrible because of the glare.

Does any one  think they will ever sell off the 01's in any denomination or series we see here?

It is very unlikely that they will ever let go of their number 1 notes, or any of their low serial numbers below 10.

If the 1999 or 2000 Bank of Canada auctions are any indication of their intentions, you may see future auctions of surplus Specimen notes (before 1935) or low serial number notes, but none in the single digit.  For reference, the lowest numbered Bird Issue matched set at the 2000 BoC auction was #14.

On the other hand, I have heard that the Bank of Canada may be willing to trade a surplus note(s) from their collection in order to acquire a note they are missing or desire for their collection.

Do they have a set of solid 8's

Wonder if any of the executives like Puerto Vallarta!

I especially liked looking at the close up's of the $500's these pics will have to do, until i get my own
