I just recently found a 5 dollar 2006.  Would this be a journey?  The serial number is.

AOY8049804

Is this a special serial number?

You have a 4-cycle repeater note in your hands.  The cycle being the numbers 8049.

According to the Charlton Catalogue, "There are 9900 such repeaters notes in every prefix series of 10 million notes."  Your prefix is AOY.

So yes, it is a special note in my opinion.  Now the price in Charlton says $12.00 for an UNC note.

The banknote is the Journey Series...the previous banknote designs were the Bird Series.

Thanks, I just realized that I do have a Charlton catalogue, yet it is the 13th edition. So a little old.  The bill has been circulated.
