And back in 1996 Spink offered the following related note in their Banknote Circular publication. It was described as being in Unc condition with a paper clip rust mark and was priced at £2150.00. It's amazing what shows up in Jolly Ol' England ...

The Merchants Bank serial #1 note sold for £12,000 (approx. CAN$21,300) plus 15% or so commission. Wow, Canadian bank notes have come of age!!
