Let's assume the note was in CU-GU condition.To me,and most,100% original if in CU-GU.
Given the market at the present time for high end rare notes, the scarcity of such a note, what would you expect the value to be?
I realize there are  a lot of subjective raesons, some guess work, ect.
BUT-please guess away, with some logical reasoning behind the value you attribute to such a note.
Do keep in mind the current Paper Guide(22nd) estimates this note at a value in Unc at $22,000.00

What do you say?

Thanks in advance

I would agree with the price listed in charlton. These $5 Bills are very rare! Still today, i have never seen in real any 1924 $5 in any grade. The only examples i've ever seen was the one picture listed in charlton and  the two shown in registry. Also take the registry for example, only 6 were posted so far with none better than VF. The question is... are there REALLY any 1924 $5 that exist out there in top grade CU-GU?

I just added this one so we can now say 7 total. Not a C.Unc or Gem but still a very nice note.

Me too I would agree with the Charlton Book Value for sure... that note is so RARE and when it's RARE there no problem to pay BOOK VALUE and more for a note. Like JB-2007 say , we never see that much 1924 5$ on the market....

Thanks for the opinions so far.
Great pic MG!

JB,if one were to survive in such a grade,I wonder if the market would bare a much higher price.Privately I've heard 29k!
I realize it's all guess work and a note is really valued at what some one is willing to pay.
Given I can not find a public record of this note selling in CU-GU,makes the guess work all that more interesting!

I remember about 15 years ago Andrew McKaig  had one in UNC. with a low #000099 and I think he was asking $5,000 back then? but I'm not positive, it could have been $8,000.

There was also a 1935 $10 french in EF for $300.

In the good ol' days (1960's and 1970's) EF, AU and UNC examples were seen at auction with some regularity, e.g.,

A122142 Plate D, Choice EF+ (Lot 642, Walter D. Allan Collection Part IV, Charlton Numismatics, Jan. 1974).

A122148 Plate D, Nice EF (Lot 707, Walter D. Allan Collection Part V, Charlton Numismatics, June. 1974) -- sold for $475.00!

A122144 Plate D, AU (Lot 660, Charlton Numismatics, Oct. 1974).

Observe that all three notes above are from the same short run.

Those were the days!

I don't think these three notes listed by Ottawa are on the registry. As it turns out it is written in charlton on p.182 that a registry of these notes appeared in the December 2002 CPMS news letter.  Does anyone have that news letter article?
It also states that 75 notes to date had been recorded... in the article?

All three Queen Mary $5s are in the CPMS registry, with over a page and a half of others, on pages 68-69.  All three were also recorded in the Dec. 2002 CPMS Newsletter article as well.  An interesting question is, where are the other four notes, with in-between numbers?  None has emerged since the 2002 publication.

It turns out that the first note listed on the registry (A018887) is listed for TL Coin show Auction May 2010. Listed price $10,000-$11,000. A VF-25. I love how it says "An affordable example"... Not for me  :'(
