keepers or spenders?

Hi,

I have the following notes that were identified by the SNDB as follows:

HPU9943533 43/38
This is a REPLACEMENT note!
HPU 9.720M-9.990M 270k Sheet (GP-Mar2013)
VF condition, 1 hard crease and counting creases with wallet trauma

and AHT 046404684 84
a repeater
VF condition with 1 hard crease and some wallet trauma. (I'm not quite sure how to grade the polymer notes...)

Should I spend or keep them?  What are your thoughts?  The replacements are not as exciting to me since they got rid of the "X" notes...

 Well for my personal feelings it is worth keeping them. With the fact that you have to search whether it's an insert/replacement would make me think there will be less available in collector hands. When they had the asterisk  or the X in the prefix people just put them away so many more are out there. Now as far as the condition being VG would be less value for sure but say its like you have one of 10 notes that remain in the market, if someone wanted it you would get a nice premium.
  It all depends how long you want to have those sitting around for a chance it's worth more than face in the future. To me it's what makes collecting fun.

 With the AHT, if it is in VG condition it probably won't go much above face value since the price for a special SN note is when it's UNC.

I've been adding notes to the SNDB for long enough to know that almost all inserts are tough to come by.  However, they've been discovered typically in UNC and that's what most collectors are expecting to collect/keep unless they're a much less common variety (think SNR or the tough sheet replacements that show high BV).  So for inserts that are VF and above (and special numbers with no detractions:tears/ink, etc) you may wish to hold onto them and then replace them with a better find if you come across one, or just get rid of it in the future (when needing the cash, etc) after its been established how (un)common the insert is.  This is all up to you of course, but that's sort of how I usually go about saving and relinquishing my less common finds. 

Thank you for your advice.  Since it's a $5, there's no harm done by keeping it for awhile.
