$20 New Polymer with Misprint on one Digit

It is a bit premature to say what the value would be as they are new & it takes time to establish a market value on notes like this.  But I am assuming they're UNC and they all have a part of the numeral 1 missing (or poorly printed).  I would hang onto them but don't expect a huge premium over face (this is not a major error).  If you're short of cash you could still spend a few or offer them up for sale and see how they do...

I may be wrong, but I believe that the serial numbering of the new polymer series has probably been the "achilles heal" of this Frontier series so far.  We've seen some variations in terms of quality/positions of printed serial numbers.  Number also seem very easy to rub off.  if the BOC do recognize their serial numbering as an issue and something is done to improve it- then the notes might be worth more over time.

I have had similar situation with polymers.

Under the loop my notes had shown a very fine scratch that has taken out one ply of the two plies of polymer.

I have noticed that condition on many different areas of the notes and on both sides. Interestingly enough when it happens on the number it appears like a misprint.

Just a thought.

thanks for the feedback I enjoy collecting the various notes but more curious if they had any value. Guess I'll just feed them back into keeping the local economy going

I would have to say that this would not be considered an error on the $20 note. The polymer notes are easily manipulate and replicated certain types of errors once in circulation. After examining the photo, this could be one of them.

For the $50 notes, I would have an issue stating that this was also an error that happened during the printing process, as a simple sharp object could scratch the surface of the note and remove the ink.

If an error can be reproduced easily at home, the error looses credibility.

I had posted the $50 note as an example to show that it is not a misprint error. I hope no one got the impression that it was an error.
