HBV - strange Plate Number Switching at serial number 2,000,000

It seems like there has been a strange switch in Plate Numbers-Serial Number for $5 Polymer prefix HBV.

This switch happens between serial number 1,998,000 and 2,000,000 (range of 2,000 notes)

HBV 0000000 has PN 41

HBV 1997999 has PN 09

It would follow that under normal printing sequencing

HBV 1998000 would have PN 41 and

HBV 2000000 would have PN 32

INSTEAD

records indicate that HBV 2000000 would have started with PN 41

Why this switch? Did the printing stop at HBV 1997999 and restart at HBV 2000000 with the 2,000 notes from HBV 1998000 to 1999999 not printed?

AS A RESULT

The last notes in HBV would have been impacted. The normal last note in the 200 skip interval printing is 9998999.

However it is likely that the last note in HBV would have been

HBV 9989999

I do not seem to have found any such switch in other prefixes so the reason eludes me.

Has anyone who has been doing research with serial numbers and Plate numbers seen the above?

Does anyone have thoughts on this happening?

I do not look at plate numbers at all myself (even the $20 61s I find, I just recognize by the serials these days) but I happen to have an HBV on my hands that seems to confirm it - HBV27... should be 27 by my calculations, is actually 36. I assume you have the mass of data that is the SNDB on your hands, but anything you'd like us to keep an eye out for in terms of potential HBV finds?

No - I do not have access to SNDB. I don't think other than the forum owner anyone has access to it (Of course I understand it and I contribute to it)

The HBV finding is based on my own database. My database includes numbers and images as I am looking for physical traits corresponding with certain visual manifestations in the notes. From time to time I will see a pattern in Serial number which I have not seen others have reported. HBV is one of them.

Thank you very kindly. The response to the call for PN 61 from forum members like you has been tremendous. I am now in a position to  know what has happened with PN61, the variants, the ranges affected etc.

Presently with HBV I would only like to know if the finding that I have reported proves to not hold for any HBV serial number. Otherwise I think the observations are based on some solid facts.

That's fair enough. Have you observed HBVs very close to the 2000000 mark?

I'll keep an eye out for any particularly close HBVs to the lower or upper bound of it. In the meantime the two HBVs I obtained today (230.. and 900..) both follow the trend so I doubt I'd find any different in between. I'll still probably check though just for funsies.

Assuming the 200 skip number results in a "ream" of 200 there would be 9000 notes in the ream starting at 200000 and below it.

I have found notes belonging to these two reams that follow the pattern.

In short I have found notes within a range of 9000 notes from the indicated cut-offs.
