Did anyone bid in the recent Heritage/Stacks Bowers auctions?

Some highlights:

Bank of Canada $20 1935 BC-9a Serial Number 8 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Sold for: $48,000.00 USD.  Very impressive result!

Bank of Canada $25 6.5.1935 BC-11 Commemorative PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.  Sold for: $22,200.00 USD.

Bank of Canada $100 1935 BC-15 PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.  Sold for: $25,200.00 USD.  Cheap considering how rare this note is in Gem.

Bank of Canada $100 2.1.1937 BC-27c PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.  Sold for: $4,320.00 USD.  Coyne-Towers $50s and $100s are clearly undervalued in the Charlton.

Pair of Bank of Canada $1000 1954 BC-44d PMG Superb Gem Unc 68 EPQ.  Can't say I've seen any 68 EPQ before.  Sold for a modest $4080.00 USD a piece.

Government of Newfoundland $1 2.1.1920 NF-12c PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.  Sold for $28,800.00 USD.  Not surprising considering there are only two Keating-signed notes which have been seen in Uncirculated condition.  Maybe the Charlton pricing panel will think about finally updating the prices?  $7500 UNC is getting a little bit laughable.  Even the Renouf at $6500 is a real joke with recent examples selling in the 20-35K range.  If these Newfoundland notes had been neglected up until recently collectors are certainly taking notice now.

Canadian Bank of Commerce $5 2.1.1917 Ch.# 75-16-02-02 PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ.  Sold for $8,100.00 USD.  Listed in Charlton for 2500 in EF and 4250 in AU.  As you can see, these white-background notes are quite scarce and undervalued in reality.

Canadian Bank of Commerce $5 2.1.1917 Ch.# 75-16-04-06a PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.  Sold for $9,600.00 USD.  Even though this is the "common" variety bidders were eager for the high grade apparently.  Listed in Charlton for 2000 in UNC.

Bank of British North America. 5 Dollars, 1884. CH #55-20-02. PCGS Currency Fine 15.  Sold for $14,400 USD.  Apparently no one got too excited for this note as it only received one bid.  Rare but ugly.

Bank of Hamilton. 5 Dollars, 1872. CH #345-10-04. PMG Fine 12. Sold for $8,400 USD.  Very cheap considering the rarity and the fact that this is from the first series issued by the Bank of Hamilton.  Charlton indicates 3 known including one institutional.  I'm not sure if that includes this note or not.

Niagara District Bank. 5 Dollars, 1854. CH #530-10-08. Raised. PMG Very Good 10. Sold for $5,760 USD.  Anything from this issuer is insanely rare.  This is a $1 note that has been raised to $5.  This "raised" variety was previously unknown outside of an institutional collection.  Clearly collectors would have been more excited to see a fully original note rather than this altered variety.

Bank of Ottawa. 5 Dollars, 1900. CH #565-16-04. PMG Very Fine 25 EPQ.  Sold for $30,000 USD.  This note is a monster! Anything from the Bank of Ottawa is hugely popular yet only a handful of notes have survived from the 1874-1900 series.  Consulting with a few very experienced dealers I was not able to find anyone who could claim to have seen any note from the 1895/1900 series before.  This one is just beautiful and has everything going for it.  The price was well-justified in my opinion.

Union Bank of Newfoundland. 5 Dollars, 1889. CH #750-16-04. PMG Very Fine 25.  Sold for $19,200 USD.  Key note from a very popular series from the Union Bank of Newfoundland.  For some reason the $5s are much scarcer than any other denomination.  Although $2s, $10s and $20s can been found in Uncirculated grades this is probably the nicest $5 that you will ever see.

These are outstanding notes!  They might be abit overgraded compared to Canadian grading standards but still exceptional notes.  What's unfortunate is that they were sold by a US auction house and some notes may not make their way back to Canada.

I wouldn't worry, at this level it's the same bidders whether the auction takes place in the U.S. or in Canada.  I'm pretty sure most of the bidders are Canadian although I suspect an Asian bidder for the Shirley Temple #8 note.

I had an account with them to view selling prices but i forgot the password and I requested it be reset but it never was.  I am not heart broken thought since I do not buy much anymore anyways and when I do I prefer to buy from Canadian suppliers.  Thank you for sharing these notes.  These are true genuine rare notes.  Outstanding by all means and notes that may have been in storage for decades and may not be offered again for a long time

Haha all good, no worries.  Alot of specimen notes and some high grade older circulation issues.  Nice to see that these notes survived all this time and are still UNC.
