Hi everyone,
I wa s just looking at some notes that I have and I am a little confused about the catalogue numbers. The bill I have is a Canadian journey Knight-Dodge note 5$ bill. The number on it is ANW3849603 printed in 2001. According to the catalogue this is BC-62a. but BC-62aA says that ANW0.000M to ANW 0.180M notes were printed in 2002... Shouldn't these numbers come before the bill that I have yet they indicate that they were printed in 2002 and mine in 2001.. Thanks for your time...Sammi

All $5 notes in circulation at this present time that have a prefix beginning with AN- or AO- were printed in 2001.

Dates on Canadian Journey notes can be confusing because there are actually three dates on each note:
- Issue date
- Printing date
- Copyright date

The Issue Date is the year the note was issued. The $5s are Issue of 2002, the original $10s were Issue of 2001, the upgraded $10s are Issue of 2005, and the $20s, $50s and $100s are Issue of 2004.

The Printing Date is the year in which the notes were actually printed. The Canadian Journey Series is the first series to contain this information on the notes themselves. All ANV-ANZ and AOA-AOF $5s are Printed in 2001. HNC-HNN are Printed in 2003. HNN-HNZ and HOA-HOH are printed in 2004. HOH-HO? are Printed in 2005. Other denominations show similar progression of printing dates.

The copyright date is the date that everyone ignores. It is really meaningless.

In short, the $5 that you are referring to, indeed all ANW notes, are Issue of 2002 and Printed in 2001.

Those famous insert notes? Are you asking if the notes with an A in the Charlton number (ie: BC-62aA) are insert notes, or if the ANW insert notes you refer to are famous for one reason or another?

Yes, all Canadian Journey notes with a capital A in the Charlton number are inserts.
Eg: BC-62aA, BC-63bA-i, BC-66aA, etc.
