To set the record straight, most of the $5 prefixes have the large F variety.  However, there have been some $5 FN, FO, and FP prefixes with the small F variety.  I only remember seeing prefixes FOW in the 8 millions range, and the FPU's in the 8 million range - I have seen at least one of these notes in my change during my past 12 years of collecting Canadian currency.

By the way, those particular notes have darker ink in the serial number than those of the larger F variety (except for higher FNX7's and the higher FHG's to FMF).

If there have been other $5 FN*, FO*, and FP* prefixes with the small F variety, is it possible for you to please post a scan of the note?

Hope this information is useful.
