I recently picked up this "ink smear" note from E-bay, mainly due to the fact I thought it was interesting, and I also wanted to know if it's real. Well I'm holding it in my hands, and scanning it under a nice bright halogen desk lamp, and still wondering if it is real.

It still smells like money (no chemical smell), so I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on this note, and how this error could have happened.

I thought possibly a blob of ink on the "0" of "20" getting smeared, but how can the ink spread in obviously 1  "stroke" or "slide" or "smudge" or whatever, above and below the ink splotch? Maybe there were more drops on the sheet?

Has anyone seen this error before?

I'd love to hear some feedback on this one.

Thanks,

Manny

Hi Manada: I really like your 20.00 ink smear error. Error notes are my speciality and I have quite a few 20.00 bird ink ERRORS. I am going to post one very similar to yours. I hope you enjoy it and by the way it is a genuine error. Regards, Rob.
