Miscut 1973 $1

Question #2 for today.

I have a pristine 1973 $1 that is miscut.  It is hard to tell by the scan, but the bill was trimmed right above the top green banner.  It is still regulation size, and perfect in every other way, but it was obviously out of line with the slitter.

Is this enough to be considered a cutting error?

A suggestion would be to scan the note infront of a black background or colored paper so one can see the actual note...also a scan of the back would be helpful as well

With the proper size payment, yes  .

Just trying to figure this note game out.

In order for this to be the proper size some of the other note should be showing.

The amount of the adjoining note showing should be the same as the portion that is missing from the top of the note.

That would not apply if it was the edge of the sheet though.

I scanned a note over top of it for perspective.  I lined it up as best as i could, but I am out just a hair.

The top one looks bigger to me. Try standing them up on a table to see if one is smaller than the other.

You may have to fold them in the middle first so that they can stand by themselves

 I was trying to help you determine if one was smaller than the other. But anyways it would be a minor error if it is the same size.

I am convinced it is the same size.

Now, the big question is.... Is it worth anything?

If the note is the same size as the other you have, then this is most likely a Cut out of register error, but a very minor one.

This occurs when a mote is cut improper alignment of the sheet. The greater the misscut the greater the value, and usually part of another note must show to result in a premium value.

The note shown does not seem to show another note at the edges. There would be very little premium in the note. Still interesting, and worth a little over face value.
