I just received a call from someone who has a Standard Bank of Canada $20 note.  Condition was described as well circulated.

Can anyone give me a ball park on what it is worth?  I would be buying it for resale.

Sorry for the lack of detail or pictures, as it came over the phone.

Date and signatures matter.
Book Values:
                                    Good           VG
1914                             ---            $3,000
1919 Francis-Easson     750.           1,500
1919 Francis-McLeod     ---              3,000
1919 White-McLeod       ---              1,250
Where no price is given, there is no recorded note in that grade.  If one turns up, price for Good would probably be 50% of VG price.
(I'm looking for a 1914 $20 meself - anybody got one to offer?)

Well that was disappointing, but with some redeeming parts (new post to follow).

It turns out that the note was a $5, not a $20.  It also turns out that it was in terrible shape, not just "well circulated".  I bought it anyways, and I am sure I paid too much, but it was part of a larger coin deal that I am happy with.

Here are the pics -
