I am pretty sure I m not the only on  'planning' on how to get the new note.
Has anyone:
- given flowers to their fav. teller in hopes of having a few stashed away when released?
- planned a route from bank to bank to be able to get the most exposure to the new $100
- having friends or family in different locations (across Canada) stash a few away in hope of diff prefixes

Am I the only one a little excited?

Your best bet is to go to the main branch in your city or community.  Smaller branches might not have the new $100's until maybe the next day or that Friday, but I believe that the main branch in your community should have a larger quantity of the new $100's ON March 17th.  I strongly recommend you call the main branch early that morning to make sure that they do have the new $100's.  If they do, I would also recommend that you ask your friendly bank teller to hold some for you.

Take my advice - try your main branch and good luck.  You'll need it, especially on St. Paddy's Day!

Top o' the morning to ya,

Jonathan

Only 44 days to go...

43...  42...  41...

...it's still going to be more than six weeks before we pocket the new $100 for the first time...

Wow, there is a big pile of euphoria on the release of this new note, an I the only one who's only partially excited?

I think the euphoria comes from the fact that given the nature of our collections, adding a NEW piece is something that only happens very infrequently.  For instance, there was a decade between the BIRDS $20 and the JOURNEY $10.  After we get the last of the JOURNEY notes, it could be at least as long or longer before we see another NEW note.

Actually, Jason, there were 8 years between the release of the Birds $20 and the release of the Journey $10 (approximately 7 1/2 years to be exact!).  Even though the birds $20 was dated 1991, it was officially released in June of 1993, but the Journey $10 was dated "Issue of 2001" and was released in January 2001.

Here are some time periods from the release of the Birds Issue to the Journey series:

$5 Birds:  1986       $5 Journey: 2002    (16 years)
$10 Birds: 1989      $10 Journey: 2001  (12 years)
$20 Birds: 1993      $20 Journey: 2004??  (11 years??)
$50 Birds: 1989      $50 Journey: 2004??  (15 years??)
$100 Birds: 1990    $100 Journey: 2004   (14 years)

According to my theories, the denomination with the longest timespace between the birds and Journey issues is the $5 note with 16 years.

The amount of timespace between the release of the Birds $2 note (1986) and the so-called "twoonie" coin (1996) is a little bit less than ten years since the 1986 $2 note was issued in the fall of 1986 and the $2 coin was launched in February of 1996.  That's about 9 years and so many months between the birds $2 and the $2 coin.

And that is my twoonie's worth.

Later, Jonathan

I stand corrected.  But my point is clear... these NEW notes don't come to us every day!
