Tool marks?

I have been getting an increasing amont of bills that have marks on the front of the note. Does anyone have any idea what causes it? I have included a pic and have outlined the marks in red to show you where they appear since they can not be seen in a scan.

They look like someone used a pen to draw a straight line and a dot, but no ink came out.

I've been noticing the same though I am not sure what specifically causes it.

It is obvious that those marks where made by someone using the note under some other document when they were crossing their "T"'s and dotting their "I"'s
    So I guess a "tool" did make the mark!

Also could be morse code    dot dash  stands for the letter "A"

Might be from the clamping and banding the notes or during cutting.

True, but if it's dash dot then it's the letter "N".

However if you consider the dot and dash separately, dot is the letter "E" and dash is the letter "T".   Ooooh, spooky stuff!  Could it be a message for E.T. to phone home?

Conclusion: It is a NEAT note that is worth mega bucks

In that case, the buyer will have to ANTE up if only4teeth puts it up for sale! 

BTW, only4teeth, is your forum name descriptive of the quantity of teeth you have left, or does it mean "only for teeth" to suggest that you are a dentist?

I can confirm that the last time I saw only4teeth he had more than 4 teeth left

I'm afraid to ask why...if you will need ready cash to buy some dentures it appears that friedsquid will readily buy this error note off you!

I agree it could be a clamp used to hold down the brick for banding/wrapping. Did those who find this usually find or observe this mark on the bottom notes from xxxx990 to xxxx999 region?

I tend to agree with the theory of mark left by the banding machine.  I noticed that this mark looked as a square hard block were hardly pressed on the lasts notes of  each bundle of bricks of AOV notes.  The most marked note was the ***999 and the mark was weaker as you went down the numbers, to disappear around ****995. 

This mark spoiled few replacement I got
